A WORD OF WISDOM
Contrary to popular belief, a trained protection dog isn't the snapping, snarling, vicious demon that general opinion might have us believe, this is a broad misconception. The dog is however as a gun or automobile, potentially dangerous to non-family member and strangers, which should always be treated accordingly. At no time should such a dog be taken lightly as is sometime the case.
There are as many opinions as there are people concerning what a protection dog is, does and what it should not do. Training methods and techniques vary from one trainer to another, with all claiming to know the most and train the best. Few agree completely in all facets of training.
Many people claim that nobody has the right to own a trained protection. These claims are not without certain amount of validity. Unscrupulous handler/owners and irresponsible trainers have contributed to this problem.
EVOLUTION DOG TRAIINING CENTER WILL NOT SELL OR TRAIN YOU A PROTECTION DOG IF WE FEEL YOU DON'T REALLY HAVE THE NEED FOR THIS TYPE OF DOG, OR YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL OR HANDLE THE DOG PROPERLY!!!
It must be realized that a trained protection dog is not a toy to be played with. The handler/owner must realize that the dog doesn't always distinguish between a play situation and a serious one. A stranger rasing his hand quickly or grabbing a family member playfully could become a dog bite victim. (Playing with the dog by family member is not a problem once the dog bond with the family which takes approximately two weeks.) But you must remember that you should acquaint your dog with any new members to the household, but do it gradually do not force the dog on anyone.
